Membership

For Prospective Members:

Rotary brings together people like you who want to make a difference. The Rotary Club of Hammond is here to provide you with the resources and opportunities to improve our community and create change in the world.

Rotary connects leaders from all cultures and occupations who want to use their distinct expertise for good. People whose sense of responsibility inspires them to give back to their communities. Who step forward to tackle the toughest challenges – and persevere to create lasting change in communities – in our region and around the world.

As a Rotarian, you have an opportunity to impact a cause that you’re passionate about. Ideas for new projects are always welcome.

Get involved! We want to grow our club with people like you – people committed to integrity and making change happen. Be our guest and join us for lunch at an upcoming meeting. For more information, contact Mike Lafaso.

For Members Who Would Like to Nominate a New Member:

Our club wants to grow! We are always seeking new members who share our value of service.

How can you help? Invite a non-Rotarian to volunteer at a club service project or join us for lunch so they can see Rotary in action! Please introduce the prospective member to the Membership Chair. Have them complete the guest book with their name, phone number and email address, and have them check the, "I want to be a Member" checkbox.

If your guest expresses an interest in joining Rotary, complete a nomination form. You can also download the nomination form HERE, fill it out, and give it to the club secretary or membership chair.

A prospective member is expected to attend a minimum of 3 meetings before their application for membership will be considered. The board will review their application for membership after their third attendance and the club Secretary will notifiy them of the final decision. During this time all of our members are encouraged to review the prospective member and talk to the nominating Rotarian about the candidate. If a member doesn’t believe the nominee will make a good member, he/she must make his/her feelings known to a member of the board.

If no adverse comments are given on an individual within the two-week comment period, the nominating Rotarian is notified that his/her candidate has been accepted and installation of the new member is scheduled.

If adverse comments are given the candidate’s nomination goes back to the board for further discussion. The board’s decision is final.

For more information about nominating a prospective member, please contact the membership chair or a board member.
