LOCAL SERVICE PROJECTS
The Rotary Club of Hammond actively embraces the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.”
Each month, the club comes together for a community service project. Through activities like volunteering in schools, building homes for those in need, beautifying parks and green spaces and hosting blood drives, members are able to find a cause they are passionate about and give of their time and talents.
We also raise funds for grants to community non-profit organizations through three “Signature Events”: Movie Night Under the Stars, Hammond Christmas Parade, and the Shamrock Run. For these projects, it’s “all hands on deck” to ensure a memorable experience for all and that we reach our fundraising goals.
Movie Night Under The Stars
Rotary helps kick off the Holiday season with our annual “Movie Under the Stars” event in November at Cate Square. Families bring their kids, blankets and pets and hunker down for caroling, hot chocolate and a seasonal feature movie on the big, inflatable screen. Rumor has it there may even be a few snow flurries…!
Hammond Christmas Parade
The holiday celebration continues on Friday, December 16th with the Hammond Christmas Parade. Bands, floats, dancers and other surprises await the crowds lining the street. It’s a great event, and a Hammond tradition.
Evening of Jazz
Hammond Rotary presents An Evening of Jazz in parthership with SLU Music Department and the Bill Evans Jazz Festival. It is a fund raiser for the SLU Music Department and the SLU Foundation
The Shamrock Run has attracted hundreds of elite runners with teams from local employers and organizations, families and 4-legged friends. Choose the distance that’s right for you: a 1-mile fun-run, the 5K or the 10K course. Winding through the beautiful Louisiana Renissance Festival Grounds, the event boasts one of the best after-race parties on the Northshore!
